Thank you for stopping by and indulging in ways on how to make your life more healthy, vibrant, and full! My passion for helping others reach their performance and health goals realms not only from my experience, but also my frustration with our healthcare system, which I’m sure many of us share.
I was 20 years old and calling my grandma to take me to the hospital for chronic stomach pain. I had a CT scan, tests on tests on tests; the doctor even had cameras in me to see if I was having “female” problems and might be infertile. Now, naturally I am extremely upset because I absolutely love children and want some of my own one day. Thank God, this wasn’t the case. But after hours of tests and scans (not to mention thousands of dollars later) my doctor decided to ask me about my diet. He suggested I take certain foods out each day and watch for symptoms to decrease.
Turned out I am lactose intolerant – meaning my body no longer makes enough of the enzyme lactase to break down lactose which is in all dairy. Side note: lactose intolerant individuals CAN eat yogurt or other probiotic induced dairies, because the probiotics metabolize the lactose for you (source). This is what caused my extreme stomach pain. Over the years I realized none of my doctors talked to me about the specifics of my diet, nor how I should exercise. Talking to friends in medical school, they neither knew much about how to apply nutrition and exercise to everyday life. After hours of nutrition credits, research, and self-cultivation through racing triathlon and running, my passions grew: I want to educate others on how to develop better health through nutrition and sport.
I practice a holistic approach to health and wellness, looking at how all aspects of your life are intertwined. Together we’ll work to reach your health and performance goals in areas such as achieving optimal weight, reducing food cravings, setting specific goals, and maximizing health through fitness and nutrition. As we work together, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of the food and lifestyle choices that work best for you. We’ll implement lasting changes that will improve your energy, balance and health (and sport performance!).
